Assistant Ranger,
Hampton Plantation State Historic Site, SC


The South Carolina State Park Service seeks an Assistant Ranger for Hampton Plantation State Historic Site. Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with Department guidelines and procedures and planning of long and short-term goals. Collects and accounts for revenue and produces required reports. Instructs, supervises and performs routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings and equipment. Assist with operations to include public use areas, retail operations and facilities. Maintains a safe work environment. Assists in control of inventories of equipment, supplies and retail items by issue, use and counts; completes data reports. Interprets the cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service to park visitors. This is a part time, NON- permanent field position, which works a forty-hour rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Park Management or high school diploma with one (1) year of general park experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.

Salary or Pay Rate

Hourly wage based on experience.
