SWCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in natural and cultural resource management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance. We are seeking a Cultural Resources Collections Manager for our Pasadena, California office. This is a regular, full-time, hourly position that will report to the Cultural Resources Program Director. Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
The Cultural Resources Collections Manager oversees the intake, cleaning, sorting, cataloging, analysis, conservation, temporary storage, and long-term curation of archaeological and paleontological materials. The Collections Manager will provide leadership and organization for the in-office tasks associated with our cultural resource work under the guidance of the Program Director. This includes oversight of laboratory and storage facilities and staff, data management, and ownership of the chain of custody process. The Collections Manager will coordinate all artifact analysis including sending specimens to appropriate laboratories with all required documentation. She or he will complete all necessary paperwork and artifact labeling associated with curation, remaining current on individual curation facility standards. Knowledge of archival materials and standards for curation, conservation techniques, advanced database construction and use, and artifact photography are essential.
The successful candidate in this role will be a self-starter and detail-oriented individual capable of functioning independently while maintaining communication and collaboration with senior staff. We anticipate the work for this role will be primarily in the office with fieldwork conducted as needed. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
