The Sweetwater County Historical Museum is seeking applicants for the position of Curator.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will: perform technical and administrative work in the researching, cataloging and storing of three dimensional artifacts as well as archival and photographic collections; work with the exhibits coordinator in preparing artifacts for exhibit; hire and supervise summer interns; and assist in conducting tours of the museum.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must possess well-developed historical research skills, supervisory ability and a complete knowledge of professionally-accepted curatorial practices. Also required is a working knowledge of the Nomenclature cataloging system and an ability to operate personal computer equipment. Experience using IO cataloging program a plus. Good interpersonal skills are a must. Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Museum Science, American History, or related area. Minimum of two years related experience demonstrating proven abilities relating to the curatorial care of museum objects. Other equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

The Sweetwater County Historical Museum is located in the rural, high desert environment of southwestern Wyoming. The staff of 3 professionals and 2 support staff is headquartered in a fully rehabilitated historic building.
