The Dubois Museum in Fremont County, Wyoming seeks an energetic and motivated person to join a small staff and define museum exhibits and programs. This is an exciting time for the Dubois Museum. The 4,000 square foot building includes exhibit space and a small gift shop. A small historic residence serves as staff office space. The Fremont County Museums Board is in the process of planning for a potential new facility.
The site is adjacent to the Town of Dubois-owned Dennison Lodge and the National Bighorn Sheep Center. It is also a short distance from the Headwaters Art & Conference Center.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities will be to function as administrator for the Dubois Museum. That responsibility includes the study and understanding of local history and museum collections in order to design and prepare exhibits for installation in the facility. The Director works closely with the curator, archivist and other part-time staff to research, design exhibits, and prepare exhibits for installation. Additional responsibilities include assisting with public programming, working with area schools, marketing the museum, and working closely with a support organization.
Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred) with major course work in museum administration or a related field and five years of professional experience in museum work or a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Dubois Museum Director is an employee of Fremont County, Wyoming and receives benefit package with a starting annual salary of $39,646. The combined value of the salary and benefit package is up to $61,610 depending upon eligibility and choice.
