Job Description
The Department of Economic Housing and Community Development (DEHCD) is seeking a dynamic and creative leader to be the Vermont State Historic Preservation Officer and manage the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation including all aspects of the federal and state historic preservation programs and the State-Owned Historic Sites. The position manages a professional staff of 12 as well as temporary employees and interns. This position reports to the Commissioner of DEHCD.
Job Responsibilities
Qualified applicants will have (1) extensive experience in the field of historic preservation; (2) demonstrated leadership skills; (3) considerable knowledge of state and federal historic preservation laws, regulations, principles and practices; (4) experience and proven track record in project and personnel management; (5) considerable knowledge of the application of the Secretary of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation, the National Register Program, the Rehabilitation Investment Tax Credit Program and the Certified Local Government program, and (6) excellent communications, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
Education
- Masters Degree in Historic Preservation or closely related field.
Experience
- A professional record of accomplishments in the field of historic preservation or closely related field INCLUDING ten years of professional experience AND five years of management experience.
- Experience working with other state and federal agencies and with the public is desirable.
