Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill our open position for a Historic Preservation Specialist in our Madison, Wisconsin and/or Minneapolis, MN office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: completing activities for Section 106 compliance including the identification and evaluation of historic resources while applying the National Register Criteria; conducting research and site visits; preparing reports including historic context, property descriptions, and evaluations of properties. Some travel will be required.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- A master’s degree in historic preservation or related field such as: public history, architectural history, cultural resource management, or art history;
- At least one year of relevant experience
The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: an understanding of Section 106 regulations and cultural resource management; previous experience applying National Register criteria; experience authoring reports including: descriptions, historic context, and statements of significance. Ideal candidates will also have experience conducting research and field review; experience with transportation projects; possess an attention to quality control; and an ability to provide examples of work that demonstrates strong writing, research and communication skills.
