Under supervision of the City Manager and in accordance with the Royse City Main Street Program four-point approach, this position manages and coordinates economic development and related historic preservation activities within the downtown district. The position acts as a liaison between the City and the Heritage Preservation Committee, property and business owners in the historic downtown district. Also under supervision of the City Manager the position acts as Communications Manager providing software applications support and coordinates with all departments to ensure that content of the City website and social media sites is current, accurate and appropriate.
Job Responsibilities
- Familiarizing public officials, retailers, community groups, the general public, etc., with the nature and orientation of Main Street;
- Interpreting previous studies and reports that analyze community resources and to develop a strategy for achieving revitalization goals (preservation plan development);
- Implementing local objectives;
- Assisting individual merchants and property owners;
- Assisting and coordinating downtown promotional events/activities;
- Developing economic strategies for downtown;
- Recording and reporting program progress;
- Organize Main Street Advisory Board and other volunteers ;
- Implement the goals of the Main Street Project;
- Administrative support and project assistance as needed with other departments;
- Assembles, distributes and collects forms, applications and general information requested by visitors and the general public;
- Assisting in the Public Information Officer functions;
- Data collection;
- Public presentations;
- Website maintenance, social media, marketing materials (internal/external) responsibilities
- Grant writing.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of standard office practices, report writing, graphic design, computers (hardware and software), city policies, the issues involved in commercial revitalization, website development & maintenance;
- Skill in oral and written communication, data gathering, preparing reports, public presentations, customer service and volunteer recruitment and management;
- Ability to function effectively in an independent situation
- Associate Degree; Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Experience with marketing, public relations, website design, computers, event planning and media relations;
- Minimum of two years experience in a downtown management program, non-profit association management or similar organization
