Downtown Farmville, one of Virginia’s newest Main Street organizations, is accepting applications for the position of Main Street Executive Director. The Executive Director will be responsible for coordinating downtown revitalization activities through the Main Street program. The county seat of Prince Edward County in central Virginia, Farmville is a town of about 7,000 people and a shopping destination of five counties. Two institutions of higher education, a state park, a National Historic Landmark, and a nationally accredited art museum are located in close proximity to downtown.
Qualifications
The Main Street Executive Director must be a dynamic and creative person with excellent written and oral communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate must be entrepreneurial and comfortable engaging a wide variety of constituents. The Main Street Executive Director will promote public awareness of the program and act as liaison to other government and community organizations. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree and have professional experience in one or more of the following areas: volunteer management, nonprofit management, community/economic development, historic preservation, event planning, marketing, public relations, design, urban planning, small business development, or retailing.
Salary or Pay Rate
$40,000-$45,000
