Us: Founded in 1974, Preservation Action is the only national organization dedicated entirely to grassroots lobbying for federal historic preservation policy. We are a small organization that makes a HUGE impact with a network of advocates throughout the country. The Program & Policy Coordinator reports directly to the President. The position is full-time, exempt.
Database Management: The Program & Policy Coordinator (PPC) will have responsibility for managing the organizations databases and distribution lists of its members and advocates. This includes the management of membership and donor recruitment and renewal records, payment processing, acknowledgements, and statistical analysis.
Event Administration, Volunteer & Intern Management: The PPC will actively participate, and manage the logistics for Preservation Action and Preservation Action Foundation meetings and events including Historic Preservation Advocacy Day, the Preservation Action Foundation Auction Fundraiser, Board Meetings and Members Meetings. The PPC will be responsible for recruiting and supervising volunteers to assist with the running of these events as appropriate, will assist with the recruitment of interns, and will supervise their daily responsibilities and activities.
Communications: The PPC will work with the President to manage and develop content for the organizations communications vehicles including the website, Facebook page, Twitter account, and other social networking media. The PPC will actively monitor relevant media related to the mission of the organization.
Policy: The PPC will actively work with the President and advocates on the preparation of advocacy materials including one-pagers, presentations, briefing materials, and other documents. The PPC will be expected to have ongoing knowledge and understanding of the organizations key legislative issues and may be asked to perform research or monitor congressional hearings or meetings on the Hill as appropriate.
Administration: The PPC will be responsible for the preparation and completion of all deposits to the organizations bank accounts including, but not limited to memberships and donations and associated record-keeping. The PPC will also have some office management responsibilities including the inventory of office supplies, the management of postage on behalf of PA and the PAF, the answering of telephones and checking of voice mail, and the monitoring of the Preservation Action general email inboxes. The PPC will also work with the President to staff/coordinate Board and Committee Meetings and Conference Calls.
Other: As a small office, the PPC will be available, as appropriate, to perform other relevant tasks as deemed necessary in fulfillment of the mission of Preservation Action or the Preservation Action Foundation.
Bachelors degree required. Applicants should have experience with windows based applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Outlook.
