Serves as Assistant Site Manager at Mordecai Historic Park within the Historical Resources and Museum Program. Directly supervises part-time employees and volunteers at Mordecai Historic Park, Borden Building, Tucker House, and Raleigh Trolley. Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises participants in a variety of classes, programs, and events that are social, historic, educational, and/or cultural. Reviews community needs, recommends exhibits and programs, writes policies, and determines expansion needs or deletion of programs offered. Meets with individual citizens, civic organizations, community groups, and university groups to provide information and generate interest. Helps conduct public relations for Mordecai Historic Park; advises citizens of programs and activities offered. Prepares bulletins, pamphlets, brochures, website, and newsletters relating to site.
Qualifications
4 years of experience in directing a full complement of benefit-based leisure programs and/or historic site management. Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Education, Preservation, History, Public History, Museum Management, or a related field. Knowledge and understanding of Past Perfect Museum software or similar collections management software. A Valid NC Class “C” Driver’s License.
