Recreation Facilities and Program Supervisor III (Museum Director),
Raleigh City Museum, NC


Serves as Director of the Raleigh City Museum within the Historical Resources and Museum Program. Directly supervises 1 full-time employee, multiple part-time employees, and volunteers at the Raleigh City Museum. Serves as Program Manager for Raleigh City Museum by planning, organizing, directing, and supervising participants in a variety of classes, programs, and events that are social, historic, educational, and/or cultural. Plans, organizes, and directs special events for the Raleigh City Museum; encourages volunteer participation. Reviews community needs, recommends programs, writes policies and determines expansion needs or deletion of programs offered. Works with Historical Resources and Museum Program Administrator to identify budgetary needs and monitors expenditures. Helps conduct public relations for the Raleigh City Museum; advises citizens of programs and activities offered; prepares bulletins, pamphlets, brochures, website, and newsletters relating to museum programs. Advertises for, selects, trains, and handles payroll for subordinate personnel. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

5 years of experience in directing a full complement of benefit-based programs and/or museums. Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Education, History, Public History, Museum Studies, or a related field. Knowledge and understanding of Past Perfect Museum Software or similar collections management software. A Valid NC Class “C” Driver’s License.

Salary or Pay Rate

$42,743 – $70,206
