This position is responsible for transportation modeling and analysis, travel demand forecasting, transportation-related database development, maintenance and analyses as well as recommendation for transportation system improvement based on the modeling. Position is located in the Regional Planning Agency, division of Information and Research.
Examples of Duties:
Develops and maintains a land use and population forecast and allocation model; maintains and updates existing travel demand model; maintains relational databases based on a variety of spatial data sources such as aerial images, parcel, building, building permits, land use information and socio-economic information for the development of the regional transportation demand model; reviews development proposals to assess traffic impact and provide recommendations; prepares simulated multi-modal transportation networks using computerized mapping techniques; engages in research activities related to various issues of urban/regional planning; assists in consensus building activities for growth forecasts among local jurisdictions, counties and major stakeholders; prepares statistical and quantitative analysis of survey data; assists in maintaining the congestion management process including multi-modal data collection, preparation and analysis; engages in research activities related to various issues of urban/regional planning; effectively communicate findings to large groups; occasional field work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Transportation Planning, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning or related field a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in travel demand modeling, transportation planning applications, GIS and modeling with ArcGIS and TransCAD.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software and have effective oral and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to carry out complex work assignments in a team environment that requires skilled research and analysis and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
