Join Oatlands Historic House + Garden for a Vintage Base Ball game on Sunday, July 29, 2012. This family-friendly event will feature Mid Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League rivals, the Chesapeake Nine of Baltimore, Maryland and the Old Dominion Club of Virginia, who will play by the rules of the 1860s. The players’ bats and balls are authentic replicas of that time period. The game will be played without the use of gloves, helmets and catching gear, just as base ball was played in the mid-19th century.
Gates open at 12 p.m. and the game begins at 1 p.m. This event will feature vendors and concessions. Lawn chairs or blankets are recommended for outdoor seating. No pets or alcohol please.
Admission is $20 for each car, van or motorcycle; $50 for each bus.
